About Us
Our Story
We’re four sisters—first-generation Canadians and proud daughters of Italian immigrants who made their home in Montreal. Our mother, a gifted seamstress, spent over 40 years working in a local swimwear factory. To help our family save money, she would collect leftover scraps of premium Spandex and Lycra from the factory floor—fabrics destined for the trash—and repurpose them into hair ties.
These weren’t just any hair ties. Designed to withstand our thick Italian hair, they offered a secure hold without causing breakage, snagging, or slipping. We wore them every day, and they quickly became a quiet family treasure. Friends and relatives began asking for them, and that’s when we realized—these handmade ties were truly something special.
Driven by the idea that everyone should have a hair tie that works as hard as they do, we set out to share our mother’s creation with the world. That’s how GRIPSINC was born: a brand built on a patented, sustainable, and handmade design that protects every hair type while staying comfortably in place all day.
For us, GRIPSINC isn’t just a product—it’s a legacy. It’s a story of resilience, creativity, and family craftsmanship, passed from mother to daughters. And now, from our family to yours, we’re changing the way the world ties hair—one GRIP at a time.
